Autumn and free Christmas pattern.

I know I haven't posted on my blog recently, the reason is that I've been trying to finish off three different project. One knitting, one cross stitch, and one blackwork.

The first, and the smallest is now ready. It's a little Santa pattern for cross stitch, and can be used to decorate your holiday cards, or to make ornaments.

This small motif is adapted from a small fragment of a hand painted chart, which I found in a box of mixed vintage and antique embroidery patterns.

You can download it for free here, along with all the free Christmas themed pattern since 2008.

Christmas motif 2014

..................................................................................

The gardening season is coming to an end... we've had our first frost, the pumpkins are ripening in the kitchen, the Dahlia roots are drying before going into a card box for their winter rest, the trees are losing their leaves, tulips, daffodils, Iris and crocus bulbs have been planted.

This is the first year that we managed to have a sunflower bloom, but alas ! Too late !

A late bloomer

Notice the way the pumpkin plant attached itself to the garden table..... talk about creepers !

Emilie taking a break from helping rake apples.
I do wonder how gardeners managed before the invention of plastic clogs, they may be as ugly as can be... but so practical !

Not prize winners in size, but the best pumpkins I've grown so far. I had to pick them early because of the first frost. I read somewhere that pumpkins need 100 frost free days to ripen....
