Filigree needle case

My husband picked  up this old filigree needle case at an antique dealer for cheap because it is quite damaged.

Real filigree is wires twisted, and bend into intricate patterns, it was a time consuming art and usually made with precious metals. Now days there are many items marked' filigree' which are nothing more than stamped, or laser cut decorations.

Despite the fact that the needle case is a bit flattened, and missing some of the wires, I still find the design amazing and beautiful.

  2. That's beautiful. I have a tiny little filagree heart box that held a little rosary that belonged to my grandma. I just love it! :)
