Then came the sun, and the flowers bloomed .....

After a period of rain, there came the sun and with it the flowers.

It is almost a pity that fruit trees blooms don't last much longer than a week, but that one week is the prettiest one of the year.

Last summer I read the book ' The black tulip' by Alexander Dumas, so naturally as soon as the book was done I searched for black tulips. My favourite garden mail order company was offering a variety called ' Black hero', I ordered some bulbs, planted them in the autumn and waited 6 months before they began to grown.

The black hero is an impressive tulip, but it's dark mauve, not black.

Pretty pink blooms, but I'm still not sure of the official name of this tree.
